Midwest offsets were approved by another aircraft mechanic so I decided to try these as well. He was right, having used some of the best brands I understand why they can be the best out there.
Husband made me buy them because he knew they worked great. He said these are the best sheet metal working tools and most people in the field know how to get them. They cut very well, are handy and can be easily stowed away in the tool box.
As far as aviation shears categorization goes, I only use the Midwest. Know, Milwaukee or similar scissors just don't fit. (ha) Seriously, if you're cutting air ducts or the like, any knife will do. If you are looking for something reliable that can cut heavy metals. Then you need the Midwest. 4 stars only because Midwest has gone down in quality over the years. They just don't do it as well as they used to. That still doesn't stop them from being the best.
I only use scissors. This is my third pair in ten years. However, this is not the fault of the instrument. The first pair was damaged by someone using them without permission and cutting a wire with them (that's a big no-no with metal scissors). The second pair is lost. I think I will only wear a second pair after ten years of daily use. Just don't cut things they weren't designed for. Do not attempt to cut 16 gauge stainless steel. Do not cut the wire.
