000 year old discs are no longer famous. Can't verify 1

I don't understand why these 1000 year old discs aren't more famous. I can't support the 1000 year claim other than that it offers a high level of confidence that today's family and business dates should last at least a few generations compared to ALL other recordable optical discs on the market. Worth the premium.

Pros
  • Big selection
Cons
  • Compatibility

M-DISC is the reason for the renaissance of optical media.

M-DISC is the reason for the renaissance of optical media. I am using the following Blu-ray/DVD drive. Connected to Mac. Zero mistakes. +RecorderI couldn't find a DVD player that doesn't play M-DISC. These include Oppo (my favorite), Sony (my unpopular), Toshiba, Panasonic, Graig, Samsung and Philips. If you need very long storage, there are ONLY two options. Physical paper and M-DISC.

Pros
  • Satisfied
Cons
  • I'll write later

Great solution for archiving

I didn't have a single unexploded dozen that I burned. The discs are significantly stronger than standard writable DVDs. I'll have to come back to longevity in 1000 years!

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Zero

I bought two packs of 25 to make a 40m DVD slideshow/family video. My DVD label design was very colorful and each disc came out perfect - good blacks, rich blacks, consistent colors etc. None of the DVDs had any issues. The film played well on my Blu-ray player and on my PC. They should last forever.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

I work as a curator and archivist. Part of my work is archival review of color images and related materials. Here's an 10/23/19 update for some of the optical media tests I ran. The silver AZO DVD failed after 24 days in the sun, and some silver DVDs failed earlier. MAM Gold DVD lasts approximately 25% longer than Silver AZO DVD when exposed to sunlight. Although the amount of benefits you get from modern gold carriers isn't that remarkable. As part of the test, I was able to purchase one of…
