Small and light.: Compasses

Excellent compass. When I hike, I carry a small bag with essentials in my pocket. I can do without a backpack for short trips in warm weather. Having tried several other mini compasses this one is impressive. It doesn't stick, settles quickly, and is easy to read for its size.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Having problems

Good size but much better than button compasses

Good replacement compass for EDC and any travel bag. last few years. So check the declination for your region. Maps that are only a few years old do not have the correct declination! Better than push button compasses. Also made in the USA. I keep one in my EDC, in every backpack, etc.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Cannot set magnetic declination

This is just the right size for a key fob (you always have a compass when you get out of the jeep); Fluid damping and response are pretty good. Easy to read. The construction is solid. The only real problem: the rotating bezel rotates freely. If it were harder to turn you could set the local magnetic declination, or you could set your bearing and it would retain its value even if you put it in your pocket.

Cute little compass in Compasses

Nice and small but not too small as I could still see direction without glasses. It weighs practically nothing. Easy to wear around the neck or with a zip. The only negative I can say is that it's easy to lose if not secured as it's so light and compact you won't even notice it's gone. Yes, that's for sure as this is the first time I've used it in my house and the north was definitely right.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Only available in white

Nice little compass.

Looks like a nice well made compass. Decided to spend a little more on the azimuth ring model. Plan to use it for urban orientation in foreign cities and as a backup compass when hiking. One caveat: the index arrow on the baseplate points to the lanyard eyelet, while for the convenience of using a compass attached to a lanyard around the neck, it should point the other way: see any Brunton or Suunto orienteering compass .

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Only available in black

Lost in three hours

Love this tiny compass! It seemed to work great, but there was a nylon thread in the kit (to tie around your neck as well). Well I'm not sure how many knots in the rope I should have used but I lost it within 3-3 hours! I was so disappointed! LOL I will buy it again but I need a much more secure way to wear it around my neck. Also, it's kind of mounted on a piece of plastic (so it's not "just" a compass), but that didn't bother me too much. I recommend it and would buy it again, but I either…

  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Not sure

A great solution for everyday life

I recently decided to improve my navigation skills. I learned how to use a compass, find bearings and how to use a map properly. It soon became apparent that the tiny compass I was carrying was missing many features. This compass is small enough to always have with you. It has a plate that you use to measure distance and use it to find bearing on a map and get a better position. This comes in handy when using maps of European cities, which allows me to avoid using data and find my way around…

Pros
  • LUMINOUS COMPASS FILLED WITH LIQUID. The easy-to-read compass with magnetic buttons glows for up to an hour after exposure to light. Ideal for low light conditions.
Cons
  • It's fine

Much better than expected

A few years ago I got completely lost in Pompeii and only stupid luck saved me from losing a cruise ship and I needed a compass for my next cruise. I was willing to buy a few small compasses until I found the right one, but that was about it. It's small, smaller than I expected but that's a plus. Unobtrusive, light, but always there. My MiniComp II doesn't have the previous model's flashy cartoon sun logo that made the compass look like a cheap party favor. Instead I have a tiny discrete black…

Pros
  • ROTATING BEZEL - The bezel rotates to allow you to set your course. Great for orientation.
Cons
  • There are flaws

For the brave souls who need to take control of their lives!

Easy to use and very accurate for its size and value. It even glows when exposed to light for a short time. applications? Consider a hunting pin on your coat or shirt in case you lose your backpack off a cliff (remember, two make one) or a perfect survival/bug bag. Effective as an addition to an EDC keychain for the length of a paracord. How about tying scabbards to knives? Or tie your shoelaces. What's better than most small compasses is the functional direction finding plate and the rotation…

Pros
  • EXTREMELY LIGHT. The Mini Comp II mini compass weighs only 0.4 ounces. This is an ultra light micro compass. Perfect little compass for hiking, backpacking, camping or survival.
Cons
  • Security
