confusing how to use ethernet vs wifi, overall a good deal

Instructions and online support are very vague on ethernet connection. Apparently I had to use my router to find out what IP address was assigned for the connection. worked fine with Wires-x but cannot save radio favorites. sometimes waiting time when viewing groups. probably a problem with the wired network, not the pistar. The DMR works great after I ditched the faulty GD-77 and replaced it with a TyT DMR radio. it is excellent. The range is good for everyone in my 3 acre garden.

Works as advertised

Small, light, well built. I've only used it when connected to an Anytone 878 with a firemaster, but it works great in that regard. It comes with PI-Star v3 installed. So if you want to update the image to the latest v4, configure the device in the v3 software, TX/RX and run, then save the configuration file. Copy the SD card to v4 and place the v3 configuration file (ZIP file) in the root of the card. Boot from the new image and enjoy. Brandmeister now requires a password, so enter the password

Arrived Saturday and was up and running within hours. Disclaimer - I have extensive experience in networking and ham radio. BUT I had no experience with Pi-Star software or digital voice radio. I followed the advice from the comments posted here and did some homework at amateurradionotes.com/pi-star.htm which had a great step by step setup. Works great, very difficult to set up for a beginner and took 3 days to die.

This item works very well. The sound is very clear and connects most types of digital radio to home systems and traverses many of them. Setting everything up is not easy, but there is help online. I must also say that after setting it up everything worked and died after 3 days. darkened. Revain picked it up with no problem and is sending a replacement. I really like this hotspot and I hope the new one works well and lasts a long time.
