The blue LED is too big, too bright and flashes nasty.

The blue LED is too big, too bright and blinks awkwardly. The price is very reasonable. Write speed is ok. , not stunning. Copying 15,000 files of various sizes (2GB total) takes 7 minutes when this reader is plugged into a 2017 15" MacBooc Pro, about a minute longer than the Apple SD card reader plugged into a 2014 15" MacBook Pro of the year is installed. (Card: SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB UHS-I/U3)

Pros
  • Status LED lights up when power is applied and a card is inserted. | Supports: USB 3.0 Type-C, SDHC and SDXC cards, UHS-I and UHS-II bus speeds | Compatible operating systems: Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10, Mac OS X, Apple iOS, Android
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Slower than other readers

Unfortunately, this is consistently 10-20MB/s slower than other readers I've used on my MacBook Pro with a USB-A to USB-C adapter. I think it's cheaper and more convenient, but when you transfer thousands of RAW files, the difference becomes bigger quickly.

Pros
  • Aluminum body: The aluminum body creates a simple yet elegant style. No external power supply required: the card reader is powered by the USB bus.
Cons
  • Mostly OK, but...

Good reader but doesn't work with a case!

Seems to work as intended if your phone doesn't have a case. I have a Motorola Z3 game with an OtterBox commuter case and unfortunately I can't connect the reader to my phone because the case is a bit bulky. The card reader works well enough if I can remove and insert the case.

Pros
  • SD 4.0: Conforms to version 4.0 of the SD card specification. | Speed: This card supports ultra-fast UHS-I and UHS-II bus speeds that offer a theoretical full-duplex transfer rate of 156 MB/s and enable 4K video recording at 60 Hz.
Cons
  • Dear
