monotone is a free distributed version control system. It provides a simple, single-file transactional version store, with fully disconnected operation and an efficient peer-to-peer synchronization protocol. It understands history-sensitive merging, lightweight branches, integrated code review and 3rd party testing.

Great tool, easy and intuitive workflow

The ability to easily share files between different users without having them all cloned into one repository (which would be too much for most people). I like that it's open source so you can customize or extend as necessary in order to fit your own needs! There are probably other VCSs out there which do everything this does just better but they're not Open Source nor Free Software. We use Git instead of Subversion since we host our repositories internally at work; therefore using something…

  • Easy way around committing local edits
  • Saves metadata associated with every commit, making viewing previous versions quick &/or reviewing code bases easy.
  • Supports merging branches by pulling new updates rather then resorting manually reverting what should've happened automatically during checkins via SVF commands after running merge conflicts tests,
  • Ability To Use Merge Strategies In Case Of Conf
