That does not work. Garbage

Tried using this for the 530 chain but it didn't work. As a result, the tool broke without making rivets. Not strong enough. Stay away from it

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Success in 1 minute!

I had a lot of trouble installing the o-ring master link on a 520 chain (DRZ400e) before I got this tool. Received this tool in just 1 minute. Boom. Did. I blamed myself for trying to take cheap shortcuts.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Has imperfections

Not suitable for tightening the master link, great for removing

I like that the master link pushes out of my Drag Specialties 530 motorcycle chain. I didn't like that it was too tight for the master link to Adjust to press the plate back against the suspension link. See photos.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Some small things

Not for chain 530!

I'm a bit disappointed in the Pro movement. So far the tools I got from them have worked very well. Had to adapt the tool to my 530 chain by sanding the sidewall on a socket sander and re-drilling the recesses to line up the rivets. Removed about 1/8 inch to fit 530 master links.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • There are downsides

Works, but...don't waste your money on it!

It works, but you still need to use a grinder first. I probably won't benefit from it. I've only used it twice and the buttons are already growing like mushrooms. Better buy with a handle and it's a circuit breaker too. Either way, you need one to break the chain.

Will not fit 530 series chain rig

Overall a good tool but will not fit 530 series chain rig because another reviewer noted the link is too wide to fit the tool. You can use a hammer to hold it in place in a pinch like I just did, but I wouldn't want to do that by default. It's ok to delete as the link has already been clicked and at this point there is room to easily place the link in the tool.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Nothing

Works great for tool kits

A simple, well-engineered tool that costs too much, but after being held hostage by a modern motorcycle chain that refused to fit O-rings tight enough to clamp, cut , I was desperate. Link Press accomplished in minutes what took me over an hour to accomplish. "There has to be the right tool." In hindsight, though, a couple of cheap little vises might have helped. Now this cute blue cube is going to be part of my growing trove of special tools that my kids will one day fight over.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers

Works perfectly.: Tool Kits

I have another larger Motion Pro steel chain tool that also forges master link rivets. I carried it in my tool bag when traveling along with two standard 525 links, a clip style master and a small hand file. It required more tools to use, was heavier and more cumbersome. But this ultra-compact tool is perfect for extruding links after filing my heads. And I can just click on the clip style master. This obviously won't make simple rivet style connections. But it's perfect for trailside repairs…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

Motion Pro Excellent Quality

Motion Pro makes products of excellent quality. This Master Link Chain tool should work for years. A bit pricey but the durability can't be beat. Almost all new good quality suspension links are pressed to size. It's not like the old days where the plate was just slipped over the pins and then held in place with a clip. In addition, with O-ring chains today, it is difficult to compress the plate and attach the locking clip. This tool greatly simplifies installation and removal. Otherwise you'll
