2003 Taurus DOHC Fixed High Idle

had a very high idle and high oil consumption (2.5 liters in less than 1500 miles) and that was a problem. A bit of a bear to get there, but nothing that's a bit of a curse and the right tongue angle (and some BIG long-reach pliers) can't fix that

Pros
  • Made from quality materials
Cons
  • I will add later

Between replacing this

and PCV pipes and elbows seem to have fixed my trouble codes. Ford Ranger Edge 4.0 2005 PO174 and PO171 did not return after a few hundred miles. I think the problem was actually the knee that connects to the PCV, but you might as well replace the PCV while you're at it.

Pros
  • Abrasion and Corrosion Resistant
Cons
  • Some faults

This is Motorcraft's PCV OEM valve and it may cost a bit more than crap in the aftermarket, but performance and durability more than make up for it. Replace the PCV before it opens up and sucks oil out of your engine! With it installed on the 2001-2004 Ford Escape 3.0L, get ready for some fun!

Pros
  • Regulates fluid flow
Cons
  • Not automatic
