Its relaxing. It adds support to keep my ankle in the best position. I have some. I don't like the flared heel style because they dig into the back of my ankles. Don't bite at this view. M/L Mueller ankle brace fits very well in my size 9 women's shoe. Since the picture was of a man wearing an ankle brace I assumed it was a Men's size would be M/L, but no. I know this idea is good for more support, but it almost cuts off the blood flow. But I needed it and I kept it. Next time I would order a size larger. Convenience aside, this is a well-made product.
