Nice little phono stage at a reasonable price

This is a nice little phono stage with extra features at a reasonable price. There is no noticeable hum in the system I bought it for. However, this isn't my high-end audio system, so I can't guarantee it will sound great with your $5,000 amp. For the average enthusiast, it's quite normal.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Outstanding performance in a very small package

Great! Works great as a preamp between a 1964 Dual 1019 turntable and a 1964 Saba Freudenstadt 12 Stereo. I used a DIN 2 RCA cable to connect the amp to the sub. The sound of the TT is excellent. No hum or white noise. Very satisfied. Was about to buy a small Clearaudio preamp for a few hundred dollars when I discovered the Music Hall Mini. Excellent value for money and quality

Pros
  • Always enthusiastic
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Game Changer!: Home Theater

I was using a USB phono amp and the levels started dropping and I couldn't figure out why. I ordered this and was very surprised, after turning down the gain and adjusting the levels, everything sounded 100% better. I'm an internet DJ and it makes everything sound so much better! There are no adjustment knobs. Just plug everything in and turn. During playback, the music is automatically mixed according to RIAA standards, right and left channels. I couldn't be happier. Highly recommended!

The only better improvement I could make

I upgraded a cassette in my old Technics TT and was still disappointed with the performance. I'm betting on a better preamp and now it's in a different league. The detail and clarity are phenomenal. I tried using it without grounding and the hum was unbearable. Having properly grounded my turntable according to the instructions and common sense; the noise seems to be completely gone. this preamp turned my decent turntable into an exceptional turntable for the price of a good replacement…

Impressive little preamp

I found that many preamps require a separate ground (preamp to amp) to reduce feedback, but the sound quality is crystal clear when this little guy is plugged directly into the turntable is without additional grounding. As long as you have a moving magnet pickup it's everything you really want in a preamp, with the bonus that it's easy to hide and not an eyesore like so many others. It doesn't have many features - you plug in your stuff and forget about it - but the quality is undeniable.

Pros
  • Receiver and amp
Cons
  • Hard to say

Music Hall Mini offers what I was looking for.

This was the second preamp I bought to use with my relatively new Sony STR-DN840 and Technics SL-B350 TT as the first one I bought performed just as badly like its low price: Pyle PP999, which I think I paid $20 or less for. It just didn't raise the sound level to the level I remember from my old 1991 Kenwood receiver, which had a dedicated phono input. The Music Hall Mini Phono Stage looks and feels like a much better piece of equipment and the difference in sound level and quality is exactly…
