Improved Basement Reception

I used this to upgrade the antenna on an old Sony stereo. This is much longer than the one that came with the stereo. I had to cut off the end to connect the bare wires to the stereo. I live in Metro Detroit and now I can get Canadian FM radio stations in my basement. The improvement was very noticeable.

but I'm not sure I'm getting the best reception. My second stereo receiver (JVC).

I bought 2 of these because I have radios with a coaxial FM antenna connector. One of them is the Bose Wave radio. The antenna fits, the plug, but I'm not sure if the reception is better. The second is my stereo receiver (JVC). I've had him for about 10 years now. The antenna did not match the 75 ohm coaxial connector.
