Not for indoor use with portable audio/video equipment

Indoor reception from this antenna is worse than a standard antenna. An outdoor mount with a cable would be more receptive. I become more static than before. But it's a well-made unit. Happy with it outside the building.

Didn't know: Accessories

Since I was asked to write a review, I give my opinion on it. This is not Nagoya! But in my opinion they are marked NA 771 to make potential buyers think they are. Having already bought these antennas, I read an article about non-brand antennas that can damage my Baofeng radios. So I won't be using them, which is why I lost about $25 buying them. I have already bought REAL NAGOYA antennas to replace them. I'll throw this in the trash.

3 out of 5 out of tolerance

Measured with my SWR meter upon receipt. They must be below 3 on the meter. Two of them were under 3 years old, one was over 4 and two were over 5. I had to attach cheap radios to them. At $4 each that would be a good deal, but if only 3 of the 5 are essentially broken the price per copy is $10 each. So this is a good example that you get what you pay for. If you can't afford a diamond, buy a Nagoya. It's better to have a copy of the original than a copy of a copy.

Pros

Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Bought by mistake thinking it was a genuine Nagoya NA-771. It is not. Anyway, gave it a try on arrival (hey, you never know.) and got a significantly shorter range than the factory rubber antenna. Tested and found SWR not acceptable for my HT. Sent back for a refund. They can be wonderful, they can be terrible. I guess it depends on the quality control at the factory that day. If you decide to order, test before use.

Pros
  • Portable Audio Video
Cons
  • Available in white only
