Do not throw the bag in the compost. Decomposition takes too long. Also, we tend to place a folded paper towel at the bottom of the compost bin to get rid of moisture. More people should compost instead of just throwing kitchen scraps in the trash. We DO NOT include dog waste!

These bags work great. However, they will never fit in a 3 gallon bucket. UPDATE: I've been using these bags for about a year now. I add about 2 full bags per month to the compost bin. Today I disposed of the compost to decompose. and found what is in the photo. I pulled out at least 20 bags. none of them decayed. If I could put zero stars I would. I won't buy them again.

The bags were of decent quality and I've had no problem with them tearing once full and I usually stuff my compost bin full. But there were cuts in the bags about halfway down the roll. I suspect it was a manufacturing error but I lost at least 8 bags which is a lot given the cost. So I don't know, maybe unroll the whole roll first to see if there are any breaks in the middle?
