Remember those photo lamps that got really hot? I still have a set of Lowel Tota-Lights tungsten bulbs that I used for photography when I didn't want to lug around a flash. I used them as work lights sometimes but they gave off too much heat. I used it as a task light for an interior renovation in my house and it's perfect. Lots of light and little heat.
