Good umbrella set to change the tone of photos

I have never used umbrellas for photography so I decided to give it a try. Using it for the off-camera flash with my Canon flash does a very good job. You definitely get different toner changes when you use them and they were fun to use. I definitely recommend adding a sandbag to the tripod to add stability to the umbrella stands as they can tip over in light winds.

Amazing price from Neewer

I bought this kit as I am just starting out with ambient lighting and wanted to experiment a bit. At $33 I thought the risk was very low. It turns out that the stand is very high quality. The three umbrellas give you the opportunity to experiment with different types of modifiers with very little investment. My only complaint is that I would have preferred a larger screen. Now that I know I prefer a clear umbrella I'll be looking for a large clear umbrella to use with this stand. Even if you…

More than you expect.

First of all, you get a product that; I will say it costs triple what you pay for. The quality, materials and finishes are just perfect. Some people say it's a bit easy and cheap. Well, if you have to carry this thing somewhere, you want something that isn't heavy, right? Remember this stand is for lightning and umbrella. The part that holds the flash and umbrella is just phenomenal. And three umbrellas; White, gold and silver - good quality and perfect size. I am more than satisfied with this…

Good starter set - NOT for professionals

I bought this set as my first lighting set to soften my flash for outdoor portraits and wedding photography. The kit was a great starter kit and at only $30 you couldn't beat the price. Now, about a year later, the white umbrella (the only one I use) has a few missing parts, and the bracket that connects the flash to the stand and umbrella is broken beyond repair (no drops, just normal use) . The stand is still in decent condition, but the top wobbles and the whole thing is so light and small…

Excellent tripod for flash photography

This is a simple but solid lighting tripod, decent shades and a very nice flash head. All this is packed in a nice bag with a carrying strap. This stand doesn't cost $100 or more, but it's strong enough for a lightning bolt (or three), an umbrella, and even a softbox (just make sure the legs are weighted or spiked). For the price, you can get a three-light setup with coasters and umbrellas for less than $100. They'll work fine for most normal uses, but if something happens, you don't seriously…

Pros
  • Lighting controls and modifiers
Cons
  • Functionality

For the price I paid ($35) this is a great kit. The stand is fairly stable on level ground, although I wouldn't use it outdoors, in windy conditions, or on uneven ground without weighing it down in some way. Umbrellas are good quality and ideal for a home mini studio. I mainly use it for product photography or to set up a small studio at an animal shelter to photograph cats. The only thing I want to replace is the universal mount. This part is all plastic, nothing seems to tighten very well…

Cheap. That's why you're looking at this set, right? Well, very cheap.

You get what you pay for and I quickly upgraded my lighting kit but if you just want to try a stand and some umbrellas or want a cheap support (or second light) this is it . Big. Look this is a value proposition not complete bullshit so 4* from me. The stand is very unstable. No problem indoors, but outside your umbrella will fall over in a light breeze. My new LumoPro stand has ground level legs and spikes. Bracket - plastic, cheap. Didn't fall apart, but think twice before trusting him with…
