Great shoes for AFO: my review

At one point I broke down and started wearing an afro to protect my foot. Extremely comfortable with a nice wide toe box. The shoes are deep enough that my heel does not slip out of the shoe when wearing the orthosis. So far very satisfied.

Pros
  • Although these 4 year old shoes have some wear on the inside, they still support me well and I walk about 12 miles a day to work.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for people who require shoes with lots of reflective elements for nighttime visibility.

Roll bar is a plus, but there is also a minus

The shoe feels good and the support is good and my podiatrist recommended the Rollbar. The problems are: 1. The tongue is too short and slips down even worse when walking and 2. The part under the tongue is wrinkled. I have written to New Balance twice, once by email and once by letter, and have received no reply to either.

Pros
  • Very nice show and I enjoyed wearing it
Cons
  • May not be suitable for people who require shoes with more than one width option.

The only other shoe that fits wide feet is the Nike Monarch. Nike shoes start falling apart (rubber toe cap peeling off) after a few months. They last for years.

Pros
  • I'm glad white is back in stock in my size. They are excellent for hiking.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with high arches.
