The New Balance 577 and its 5xx walking predecessors offer excellent all-day support. I tried the more expensive NB running shoes when I couldn't buy this model and they perform just as well but don't seem worth the extra cost. To me, this is the "right fit" aided by the choice of eyelet holes on the top for a snug fit. And the black color lends itself to a relaxed vibe in the workplace.

I've worn New Balance 8 1/2 Extra Wide since 1983. They've always fit me - until now. I walk a lot and wear a lot of hiking shoes (probably 3 pairs a year). The last two pairs I bought had to be sent back and exchanged for 9 Extra Wide. My feet haven't changed - apparently New Balance makes them in a different factory with a different last. At first these shoes were good, but after a few days the soles of my feet started hurting again and I noticed that the insoles were already losing their grip. These shoes are similar to Brooks' earlier hiking shoes. That's just the tongue, which isn't leather but some sort of plastic that creaks as you walk. Of course they are made in China so you can expect very poor quality.
