Not up to par sneakers

I've been a regular New Balance customer and I'm willing to spend the extra money because they are so comfortable and roomy enough for my orthotics. This couple is not the case. I hate these shoes! They're small, not deep enough for me to use my earplugs, and they smell. Don't take these shoes, THEY MISS! So disappointed.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • pretty much everything ok

They are already falling apart

Initially I really liked these shoes - very light, comfortable, stylish and supportive. I've really enjoyed running in it at the moment. However, 2 months after owning it, I noticed that the back heel "cracked" at the seam out of nowhere (see photo). Very disappointed with the quality as I love the NB sneakers and have happily worn them for a few months.

LOVE them but had to return

As a runner I choose the New Balance brand. I was looking for extra shoes for my runs. I have a 1500 and wanted to try the 1400. The 1500 is a little tight at the top so I went with 10 watts. This was out of stock for her so I ordered a 10.5. I love colorful shoes and they were amazing! The 10.5 was too long and left too much room in the toe box. They also pinched my little toes when I was walking. I had to send them back.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • There are some nuances

Not for small feet best in shoes

I used to love the 1400 but over the years they have changed too much and there is not enough consistency from year to year. This pair is cut too high at the ankle and rubs my ankle. I liked the fit and style of everything else so I kept them and cut out the part of the shoe around the ankle to better fit my foot. I covered the cut shoe with moleskin. It got better, but still not perfect. Maybe in time I'll go with a different insole.

  • Full set

Dramatic wear in just 100 miles

I've ridden all versions of the 1400. V1 was the best so far, V2-3 was not far behind. But with V4, 5 and 6 the quality just got worse. With the V1-3 I've probably put close to 500 miles on each with expected tread wear and little to no wear on the top end. On the V4-6, after 100 miles the profile looks like I ran 500 miles and there are holes in the top of the mesh on the left and right pads. I will definitely not buy more than 1400.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Not trendy

Longtime 1400v owner dissatisfied

I've been wearing this style of New Balance for about 6 years. I only buy a new color every 6 months. I bought maroon and orange and wore them for a month and the tip of my toe started chafing. I've been wearing them for 2 months now and my fingers have rubbed a hole at the very top. This pair has no rubber cover at all on the front. I am very disappointed in the quality of this version. I would not recommend 1400v6 to anyone.

Terrible runner on fashion sneakers

I have 5 pairs of 1400s because I love them so much I buy them in different colors when they come out and keep them until I need a new pair. This. Is a. no You. I don't know what shoe it is, but it's no different than a regular 1400. There's no cushioning underneath, it's stiff, looser than others, and the tongue is thin and literally cuts my first run Ankle. I can't use it so it's a waste of money. Don't buy this if you want a comfortable show.

  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Almost everything is

Great shoe and duplicate for Mizuno Hitogami Wave

I was trying to find a replacement for the Mixwave Hitogami long distance running shoes and found this shoe to be a good replacement. So far I love her. The instep is good for runners with enough cushioning to not feel the ridges on the road, but not enough to alter the landing of the foot. I've never used a 1400 so I can't comment on the quality compared to previous products. years, but I like these shoes as good shoes for medium and long distances.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Not as good as it says

Still like the fit but no change

I have two pairs of the previous version of this shoe and loved it; However, there are two small changes that I don't like. First the tongue went from lightly stuffed to unstuffed. This may not be an issue, except that it's longer, which means its end rubs against the front of my ankle, causing chafing in one spot that I've never experienced in a shoe before. Secondly, the material on the inside of the shoe is lighter and after two weeks of wearing, there was a hole in the top of the big toe…

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Too dull
