The salt shaker itself is very well made, thick glass (but not too heavy). I really like the size but when I ordered I didn't realize they would both be embossed with the word 'salt'. who needs two I didn't read the description carefully enough. The second gave away as useless.

We use them for truffle salt and Maldon salt flakes. These two specialty salts are must-haves for any serious home cook. They change the rules of the game! Our kosher salt, which we use all the time, is in a separate "salt pig". If you don't have one of these, check it out. They are beautiful, thick and durable. You can also slip your fingers in if that's your style.

Love these basements. I use one for kosher salt and one for freshly ground pepper. You are the perfect size. They are strong and well made. The lids fit well. The fact that they both say "salt" doesn't bother me - I just flip the one I use for pepper to avoid seeing the embossed label. I will buy a replacement set because I really like them.
