Based on the reviews I decided to go up a size and go for medium. When it arrived it was too big around the waist. I sent it back and received my normal size Small and it fits perfectly. Excellent quality, stretchy, comfortable and not too tight. (5'3", 120 lbs, usually jean size 4)

I am 5ft 1in and 124lbs. I ordered the medium ones and they fit perfectly which I think means they run small. I ordered white shorts and they are too see through. The manufacturer should have used a thicker fabric. I think I'll be buying "nude or white boy's panties" to wear under these shorts because you can see my nude thong right through these shorts, so bad my gym clerk should have warned me.

bought these for my daughter. She's a cheerleader! fits perfectly. Lasts all season plus. no rips, tears, frayed seams, wash fading or weird spandex. washed almost daily but hung to dry EVERY TIME! I bought a 3" and a 5". If you need something shorter, choose 5 inches.

They are also damn comfortable when doing sports. If you're looking for compression shorts, they won't be as tight as you would expect, but they will still stay in place. They are perfect for sporty skirts/dresses. If you want them to shrink and feel like volleyball shorts, go down a size. I have small jeans and am comfortable in a 4 or 6 in jeans. Update: I've bought a few now because it turns out I actually live in them now.
