Surprisingly great lens. The best whale among all firms. Very sharp; fast autofocus. If I could take only 1 lens out of any, I would take it. Better than the DSLR and insanely expensive 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR.

This lens is lightweight and almost invisible on my Z7. With the Z7 it behaves like a 24-70mm lens. Certainly not as fast and sharp as the 24-70mm f/2.8s lens, but it's good enough for 85% of my shots. I've also used it for video recording and it's good.

I've taken at least half of my current test photos and videos with my new Nikkor Z 16-50mm lens and have had no problems with it. A nice addition to your Nikon Z camera lens that fits without an adapter. The price is ok, I often see myself in action.

Bought to fit on a Z-7 when wanting the camera to be as small as possible and don't care if it's a DX format lens. At 16mm (24mm full frame) the look and size are GREAT! The Z-7 automatically recognizes it as a DX and uses a partial sensor for 20-megapixel images. Color, saturation, sharpness, autofocus speed, size, weight, all five for the money. It's a little softer towards the long end (70mm FF), but until there's a native Z-mount full-frame pancake, this is your ticket if you need stealth.
