There are several shortcomings, but, it corresponds to the norm.

A budget version of a telephoto, I think the picture will suit many inexperienced amateur photographers, an excellent addition to the 18-55 whale, mainly for leisurely shooting, not for hunting and racing, definitely. take the last one. 70-300VR - devoid of all the shortcomings 55-300 listed above, after buying it, it seemed as if he moved from a Lada to a Mercedes.

Pros
  • - convenient range of focal lengths on the crop - good picture for a budget model - metal bayonet - liked the hood - definitely the price
Cons
  • - most importantly, slow focus speed, especially noticeable after using 18-105 and 16-85 - lathers on open and focal lengths from 200mm - the work of the stabilizer is not as effective as we would like, it does not always save, sometimes you wait a long time when it starts to work 0.5-1.5 seconds. and thereby miss the moment.

I definitely recommend buying, I didn't notice any disadvantages.

I have been using it for a year, and in the mountains and fields and just in the yards, there is no dust, it is made soundly. For the price, it seems to me one of the best Nikon offers. I strongly disagree with those who scold autofocus. When focusing on 1 point, it catches clearly even flies, and small birds in dense twigs. Well, what lengthens when focusing, and then you have to turn it manually to put it in your bag, well, it's just little things. You need to take it out of the bag and take…

Pros
  • The range of focal lengths allows in most cases not to change the lens A good stabilizer, I’m not an athlete at all, and after a couple of hours of running in the mountains, it’s hard for me to hold a camera with a lens, but even then there is practically no movement The zoom allows you to approach almost any bird at a sufficient distance Metal mount (not the most important thing, but it’s calmer in my soul, no, no, but in a hurry I often grab the lens) The hood is included, in my opinion very convenient The price is a tangible PLUS for those who are not pros, but also want to shoot with a telephoto lens
Cons
  • slow autofocus, but when you get used to it, you can even catch swallows in the sky with it, and even such birds as buzzards, kites or other soaring ones - generally easily A bit dark, but in the daytime on the street is quite enough

Good value for money, I recommend it.

In general, the lens is essentially good, well, at least not bad, and even if you are disappointed with the aperture ratio, focusing speed, or the lens hood on the caps does not please you, you will not be excruciatingly hurt for millions spent aimlessly, the glass is one of the most affordable with these focal lengths. The most important thing, of course, when buying is to clearly understand how and where you will shoot them. Good light is not desirable but necessary.

Pros
  • Inexpensive. Small - of course, on such a focal scale.
Cons
  • Flimsy, frankly collective-farm lens hood design. Slow, at times just painfully slow autofocus.

Everything in the purchase suits, a very necessary product.

For a long time I could not choose between sigma 70-300 and Nikon, as a result, Nikon still showed itself much better. I read about slow autofocus, when compared with 35mm 18-140, I didn’t see a difference, the camera has the possibility of 3D focusing, so I think it’s quite realistic to shoot a bird in flight, for those who write that it’s a bit dark in the room, then the aperture is written on the lens and expecting from him that he will be like portraits with 2,8 or 1,8 is stupid, and I…

Pros
  • Sharp, good stub, working in all segments (within reason, one should not expect miracles from him as from premium models) convenient design, the presence of a case and hood in the kit, convenient thread for filters, there will be discomfort with the polarizer as the lens rotates with focusing
Cons
  • rather than a drawback, but a pickiness that the lens hood creaks if it is hung in the opposite direction of the lens, and does not hold very tightly, but these are all trifles,

As such, there are no disadvantages, it is convenient to use.

I knew about all the shortcomings of this lens even before purchase. But the son (he is 2 years and 4 months old - yes, yes - this is not a joke) likes to look at the planes in Pulkovo and take pictures of them. So I opted for something inexpensive. As a result - the expectations of the worst did not come true - the lens is normal for adequate money. Yes, and good portraits are obtained. But shooting only in sunny weather.

Pros
  • Large range of focal lengths. Light weight. The build quality is a pleasure to hold.
Cons
  • Other authors wrote about them - I repeat: slow autofocus, often misses. At distant objects (for example, a flying plane) it is very slowly pointed.
