Unlike most, I don't use them on my cars; I often repair 12 volt electronics; Having them on my desktop saves me a lot of trouble testing things before sending them out the door. They're easy to install in project boxes and fit all of the 12v car outlets I've used them on.

After removing the center console and drilling a hole to mount it, then reinstalling everything, I found that the sockets for the phone charger were too deep. I had to buy a different type for the front and an adapter for the back. Otherwise they are great.

I installed it on my jeep which might get stuck in the rain with the roof off. Unlike others, my devices connected immediately and worked flawlessly. No problem that it's too big for the forks I use. Being a staple, it arrived quickly and I was able to install it the next day. Spent more time driving around town trying to find it at auto parts stores.

This worked very well to replace a worn cigarette lighter socket on my truck. I had room for two, so I installed both outlets to power my ham radio and cell phone charger. They are well made and durable and come with the right size cables, connectors and fuses. I don't smoke so I don't care that they can't be used with real lighters.

I needed to hook up 12 volts to the back of my truck for my camping cooler and it fit the bill. Installation was easy and the connector is tight and secure. Also great is that there is a way to moisturize it and prevent water from getting in. I applied hot glue to all the contacts after connecting the wires to waterproof the connections in case they got splashed with water from the back of the truck.

This is a quality product. The reason I'm taking the star off is because the setting is a bit too big. I installed it in the back of my truck to power my portable fridge/freezer. The cable is often disconnected. I tried several cords and they all dangled a bit. It can work great in stationary conditions, but not so well when hopping on the back of a truck.

Edit: Updated Rating to 3 Stars - One unit failed to supply proper voltage to my fridge. It took some troubleshooting to figure that out. Swapped it for a different plug and now it works. But the input jack is too loose, so I ordered it from another company. Initial review: I bought these to replace the USB port in my RV with a 12 volt outlet to power my portable fridge/freezer. I didn't need the mounting plates but the bins fit my purpose. All of the 12V DC outlets in my van are powered at all times, and I needed a few that were only powered when the ignition was in the ACC or RUN position. Problem solved with new switchboard. (I'm still waiting for the harness disconnect connector, so this panel is incomplete in these photos. May also be on the side as I can't get them in the correct orientation to boot.), waterproof power supply, spare adapter with clamps, cables…

Simple assembly, cut a hole in the side of the screw on the support ring for support, screw the front panel to the optics and carry the fuse box. Easy, probably 15 minutes setup for both together. Then I plugged in my cooler and found that the outlet was large. I thought maybe my radiator plug was just unplugged. Unfortunately, not all of my 12-volt plugs are so sloppy that they come loose on the road or fall out of the socket off-road. I've seen duct tape added to make the connectors thicker…
