Not just for mozzarella, eggs, berries and mushrooms work well too! It is of very good quality and I think it will last a long time.

The only reason I didn't give that 5 stars is that I wish the slices were a little thinner. Although slices have worked well for every recipe I've used a slicer for so far.

I love the simplicity and idea of a mozzarella knife like this. It is a pity that the wires are already deformed and have lost their shape from cutting soft cheese. Now two wires hit the metal base and the cutter can't cut them all the way through. Great idea but the product needs to hold the wires tighter for there to be no problem.

(updated 2/22/2012). I bought and received a new Norpro stainless steel mozzarella slicer today (again from Revain who previously returned my first unit). This second unit arrived in perfect condition and works great --- so I've updated my previous one - 7th January 2012 - to a full 5 star rating today 22nd February 2012.

We had one made in Europe (Germany?) that we used to cut ripe strawberries for years until one of the wires broke. I ordered a new one which was the same except it was now the Norpro brand. Liked with other Norpro products I thought this would work fine but the wires came loose after one use. It looks like other people have had the same problem. Norpro must be under new management or something because the quality seems to have gone down. Too bad because we loved this gadget.
