The thing works great! I had copper that needed replacing.

Works great! I had some copper that needed replacing on a bathroom remodel that was less than an inch from an ABS drain pipe. I put this mat in between and soldered the copper as fast as I could, but I was sure to direct the heat to the mat. However the ABS barely felt warm to the touch immediately after soldering the copper, the mat works great and fully justifies the low price it is sold for!

Pros
  • Welding and soldering
Cons
  • Requires socket

Looks like the right item for working in tight spaces

Although I haven't fired mine yet, the flexibility of the fabric and mounting holes make this item best suited for the tight space I use want it in (inside the cavity of a single-lever shower valve behind its decorative panel). If I have a pile of ash after using it I'll update the review but I highly doubt it as I'm hoping to only use a heat gun (not even a MAPP gas torch).

Pros
  • Parts & Accessories
Cons
  • Vanish

This shielding is indispensable when soldering in a confined space

As a plumber soldering copper in tight spaces between floor joists, in basements or installing shower valves, the cats meow. No more splashing water on the tree and hoping for the best. This product can be used to avoid burning pins, bars and adjacent areas during soldering. You can store it in specific places or hang it with screws on brass grommets. Read other reviews and other buyers have found many uses for this product. For around $10, it's nice to have in a pinch. Better to have and not…
