Concerns about the blade steel on Oerla TAC WS-0018

I own many Oerla blades both fixed and folders. I have many D2 and 8Cr steel. This is my first 420hc which is used extensively in Buck knives.Here is the problem, I change the edge profile on blades I buy and collect. This blade , which is supposed to be 420hc is SOFT, like 440A or less. I'm going to finish the blade edge and then try to find someone in Northern Arizona AZ University to get a take on the steel.But is is SOFT!

Great knife good for me

I like this knife. It fits well in your hand(I have big hands) very sharp, heavy duty, comfortable to wear, adjustable for different uses.I may get another one. Worth the price!

Good quality knife and handles naturally.

Oriental design is evident and super sharp right out of the box. Makes a good overall knife for most jobs. Blade may be difficult to sharpen for users without previous experience in knife sharpening.

Tighten screws on holster

I do like the knife and it seemed to be good quality but I wore it two days at work and somehow I lost one screw that fasted it to the plastic belt clip. Hopefully I can get it screw replaced.

Good buy for money !

I like this knife. It was super sharp, much more than expected. Good design of the knife. 5 stars for the buy. I would suggest the molded carrier be improved to hold the tighter. It shouldn't fall out when held upside down.

Good knife crap sheath

I Bought 3 knives, 2 Bran new out of the box.Doesn’t stay in sheath, No matter how well it’s made.If it’s gonna fall out It’s pointless.Very disappointed in this !

This is hand's down the BEST knife I've bought in the past fifteen years!

Great knife, and very sharp even right out of the box. I've had to sharpen about 9 out of the past 12 knives that I've purchased but not this one. This edge is excellent and the only thing needed is a light hone to arrive at the perfect edge. I've seen the reviews for the sheath and thought it was excellent also.

A double edged sword.

Let’s start off with what I like. The knife feels amazing. I like my blades to have a little heaviness to him to me a light blade means it’s a crappy blade and this one feels phenomenal. Out of the box the blade comes incredibly sharp and that’s just a nice little bonus. The sheets for that matter the buckle for the sheath or well-crafted quality products, keep in mind this is a $30 Purchase I wasn’t expecting much but I sure wasn’t expecting the quality that I got. Good enough. Would recommend for an EDC.

The knife itself is pretty decent. It will for sure get the job done for an EDC knife. The kydex is nicely formed. The belt attachment is kinda crap but good enough. I ended up mounting it so the knife would be horizontal on my belt and super glued the guides in and the clamp shut and i just slide my belt through it.

Perfection good for me

Perfect balance, incredible stealth. I will be buying from this company again. I collect all types of knives at all types of prices. This is truly one of my favorite, just feels great in hand.

Sheath is cheap garbage

Sheath is garbage. Spacers popped out after 30 minutes. Sheath slides and moves around because way too loose. Sheath also bulky and awkward. Knife handle digs into side. Uncomfortable. Would not buy again or recommend to a friend.

Sheath sucks! - my new review

I bought specifically for carrying knife at different angles especially in the horizontalposition. The sheath is terrible and the knife is not balanced in weight at all! The handle is heavy and the sheath can’t even hold the knife in place even in the vertical position! Jumped from the back of the truck and knife flew out. Lying down and knife falls out!Very disappointed!

Great budget fixed blade

It is a great budget fixed blade that seem to be of decent quality. I have not tested it for longevity but see no obvious reason why it would tear up.
