Old Dutch 1843 Hammered Canister Review

These canisters are not as pretty as they look in the pictures. I thought they were hammered but instead they look cheaply stamped. The texture needs to be even and consistent to be interesting. They also had a chemical smell that lingered for a while.

canisters are beautiful and spacious. However, the plastic covering the lid makes it difficult to close and seal well. My husband and I have to press the lid a couple of times for it to close completely because we press on it and then it slowly starts to lift. If they, in turn, close tightly (level with the canister), it is very difficult to remove the lid.

Very nice containers. However, I did notice a disclaimer on the bottom of the box stating that the product uses a chemical that the State of California classifies as hazardous (see image). Ouch! Could it be a container seal due to the strong plastic/solvent smell? I wanted to store flour, sugar etc in these containers so I will be purchasing another set.

I didn't want to order these based on some reviews about size and color, I'm glad I didn't. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the 'non' airtight seals are and the 4 sizes are perfect for me! I have bags of flour, sugar, coffee and stevia. The color is PERFECT if you want a real copper penny! It's not copper or pink. It has a vintage look but fits perfectly in my modern country kitchen! Super satisfied! Also great for the price!

This set is beautiful! It looks great on my countertop. The large canister lid fits well, doesn't wobble, and I only need one hand to lift the lid. For the next smaller size, I need two hands, one to hold the can and the other to lift the lid so it's a little tighter. The lids are good but I use them for sugar and coffee so I don't need anything with a very tight lid as I use them daily and the contents don't get a chance to go bad.

Totally disappointed, the picture of the item is completely different from what was shown. The order came with bright shiny copper canisters, no dents, and I wanted a rustic look, it's too light. BIG TIME DISAPPOINTED. You really need to change the picture of the item, I would never buy that. Also, the lids won't stay up when pressed down as shown in the picture. A few of them showed signs of fading. I would give him zero stars if he would let me.

These canisters might come in handy in the event of a nuclear disaster or biblical flood, but otherwise I don't recommend them. They look good, but the lid seal is so tight that I've spilled flour and sugar all over the kitchen several times trying to get the lids off. And that's after realizing and understanding the problem, compensating for it and trying different removal strategies. This UBER is frustrating, and this morning after refilling the kitchen with flour, I threw it in the bin…

Received this today and I usually wait a while before writing my review but I see no reason to wait for this item. These shipped and I was very pleasantly surprised. The first thing that struck me was the top handles on these canisters - they're solid, heavy metal. Next, I noticed the size of each canister: the largest held a full sack of flour, the next a full 4-pound sack of sugar, the third I put tea bags in, and the small one had rice. Kind of canisters and they are heavier than I expected.
