The product is completely satisfied, performs its functions.

I bought it as a kit lens along with the E-420. I have been using it for more than a year and no critical shortcomings have been identified. Among staff (standard) lenses, Olympus lenses are considered one of the best. I had to shoot cats, but they do not like to sit still. Autofocus coped in 95% of cases. I shot my wife and a small child, shot the streets of my native city, the lens copes with the functions assigned to it (although I prefer to make portraits on Helios, even if I have to work…

Pros
  • Lightweight, sharp (for a standard lens), covers the necessary FR, for shooting at home it is the most
Cons
  • slow autofocus in the absence of proper lighting, background blur on an open hole is not very interesting (although everything is not for everyone) light, since the camera is without a stabilizer, sometimes there are misses.

All is well, liked the product, didn't buy it for nothing.

An excellent lens in terms of geometry and sharpness is very difficult to call it a whale lens! Competitors Canon, Nikon in this price category and even MORE expensive price category do not have lenses with such characteristics.

I didnt expect the quality to be so high.

I took it before a trip to Europe, on my E-420 there was only a pancake, and there was also a 40-150 telephoto lens. So I never regretted that I bought a whale. The clarity of the picture is beyond praise. You may be lucky with the lens, but clarity is maintained throughout the entire FR range. To summarize, the lens fully justifies its name KIT, it is 100% suitable for landscape and architectural photography. You can take on a trip in a single copy and be absolutely calm. For portraiture, I…

Pros
  • Lightweight, relatively cheap, with a good selection of FR. Pretty tolerable distortion at small FR. For its price, a very worthy design (from other manufacturers Nikon, Canon, Sigma, I have not seen a similar design for such a price. Clear. The most important feature of this device, in my opinion, is that when shooting at close range it gives distortion in the form of an even trapezoid, and not a barrel, like many lenses of this class. Naturally, the correction of the "trapeze" is much easier than that of the "barrel"
Cons
  • On the one hand, it is a plastic construction. It wobbles a little, but it didn't show up in the pictures. If this can be considered a disadvantage, then this glass has a rather “weak” and, if I may say so, “not very interesting” bokeh on an open aperture. The drawing is quite peculiar (but not for everybody)
