Meets all requirements

The product was fine except I bought it to replace my Olympus Pearlcorder L400 which broke when I dropped it. I have all the equipment (microphone, stand, remote control, electrical adapter) that doesn't work for the replacement I received last Monday. I have not yet contacted the seller to see if I can return it for a refund. I'm not entirely sure how to do this and would appreciate tips on how to do this.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Disappointing sound quality

I have bought L400 and 500 recorders and am disappointed with the sound quality of both. The 500 had a really "tinny" sound, unsuitable for dictation. The 400 has a loud motor hum on playback (which doesn't happen when I play the same tape on a Sony recorder) and a similar tinny sound. Olympus voice recorders appear to be well built, compact and great devices. But the sound quality is worse, so I don't recommend it until Olympus makes it better. My various Sony recorders are so superior inโ€ฆ

  • Great for me

  • No instructions

Should be a bit bigger

I ordered this from Revain which had the best price online or anywhere. When I received it, I thought about sending it back for a few days. It has its own problems and is a bit "too" small for me. However, I worked through the issues and got used to the device and it's pretty good. First the problems. Someone with really small hands will appreciate it. It may seem too small for others with large hands. Those who are used to holding the tape recorder in a certain way (e.g. thumbs to operate theโ€ฆ
