Need a small mod for modular 4+4 pins.

As the title says I need to make a slight modification to fit 4+4 modular cables. The clamp interferes with some 4+4 and maybe some 6 pin connectors. 30 second fix with Dremel. With these types of testers, I think they're just there to apply voltage to the connector. Need a LCD display type to check if the voltage is within specification range. As for other reviews that mention -5V instead of lighting, most modern PSUs (ATX 24-pin) don't have -5V. Some for backward compatibility reasons. The…

It's just an inexpensive pass/fail tester, but it works.

I rarely use it, but when my computer dies, this is a very quick way to check power. If I have questions about voltages, I can use it to turn on the power and use the VOM to look for different bus voltages. That's all I need to know to decide if the PS needs replacing. I recommended it to a friend so yes, thumbs up.

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Nothing here

Good value when it works.

I used this article to test two known working power supplies and one known bad power supply. A known defective power supply did not turn on the computer. Poor power supply was the reason I bought this item. All three power supplies passed the test without any problems. This tester is not accurate or has design flaws. Avoid this rubbish.

works as advertised

I purchased this item to confirm a power outage. The device worked as advertised and confirmed an internal power failure. The price was reasonable and the device is small and well designed.

Glitchy, unreliable and poorly documented.

All I have of instructions is what you can see on them. When connected to a KNOWN GOOD power source, all LEDs will flash, then most will go off and the last one will slowly dim and eventually turn off. What does that mean? Who knows. But since PS is good, the tester is useless with this strange, undocumented behavior.
