Comfortable with easy access

Excellent backpack and very comfortable on the trail. I am a 5 foot 9 inch male, 155 lbs. After trying it on at REI, I decided on the small/medium size first. It turned out to be too short so I switched it back to medium/large which fits me fine. I've since learned that you can save a few bucks by purchasing this package direct from REI if you're a member, including year-end dividends.

For 15 years the buyer has never regretted the purchase

What can I say, not everything has been said. Lifetime guarantee on all the bells and whistles you could want. I now have 5 different backpacks ranging from daylight which I use at the dog park to everyday use. To the extreme point (which is a great idea if you're travelling) which makes the plane experience that much better. Add a day pack and 70 liters for serious travel. Spend your money, buy something that doesn't suck. 15 year old customer and I will never go anywhere else.

Pros
  • a comfortable thing
Cons
  • not fashionable

Technical backpack for tactical bags and backpacks

What makes this backpack different from others? If you just load it up and walk on level ground it's fine, but really not that much better than any other good quality backpack. If you really notice the difference: 1. On steep climbs and slopes - the balance is much better than traditional backpacks. 2. You will noticeably less fatigue over long distances because the weight distribution between shoulders and hips is more on the hips than on the shoulders. Note that the bean shape makes packing…

  • The best in its niche

  • So far so good

Most Comfortable Backpack

I had an old North Face backpack that I liked but was worn out. In search of a replacement I tried so many because of the large boots. I have tried 4-5 different Osprey bags and this is by far the most comfortable. I bought it for the side zip and built-in raincover to offset the extra cost, but it's surprisingly comfortable. It feels like the weight is on my hips and the bag doesn't really touch my back, but the mesh is such that it feels comfortable without getting hot. I haven't fully loaded
