My husband spends most of his workday outside in the Texas sun. Concerned about UV rays and skin cancer, I wanted him to wear something that would protect him but not "warm his head". Most importantly, he had to WANT to wear it, so he had to look good too. This hat looks great on him, gives ample protection from the sun on his head and the brim gives extra protection to his eyes. The mesh stripe in the middle of the cap ensures his head doesn't sweat and he stays cool.

I bought this hat for a family trip to Disney World and Florida. What a wonderful hat it was. Very stylish cowboy hat but light and ventilated. Excellent sun protection. It lasted 10 days with a few baby manipulations in between. Looks great. It's a little more durable than I thought. Withstands sweat and heavy rain. My wife had to borrow them after the third day simply because she needed a break from the sun. I'm not sure about the durability of the hat. I'd be surprised if it lasted more than

I looked at other caps, mainly for golf and only for everyday use. A friend has an expensive Tilly hat, but I tend to sweat a lot in the sun and Tilly only had a small strip of mesh at the top. This hat is much cheaper, the entire top of the hat is mesh so it lets a lot of air through and I played golf in it yesterday in 90 degree heat and it helped a lot. The shape is also holding up well. Upper and peak material - synthetic ultra suede or felt fabric, although the hat is not presented inappropriately in the description. .I left out the fabric of the field. I bought this model because of its reasonable price and in large part because it had a Revain Choice badge on the description. (I'm getting more careful with this badge.) I read all the negative reviews first and found this hat met my expectations for a good sun hat. I've been wearing it on a sunny and hot Texas golf course and in the pool for over 3 weeks. I also soak it in the pool or in water every day, and after drying it returns to its original shape. It is comfortable to wear and cools much better than other golf sun hats. The hat is slightly lighter than the advertised image. That doesn't detract from the look, because the hat seems to be a very nice color combination. It's definitely not "loud". Its contour appears to remain the same after processing and use. I didn't try to crumble the whole hat, just the tip. The top quickly got back into shape.
