SWR out of spec

SWR out of spec at 2.5. The specification says 1.5. The setup requires more work. However, there are no assembly instructions.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Expensive

Fantastic Yaggi: Accessories

Very good, well built Yaggi. Easy assembly and installation. The SWR ranges from 1 to 1 in the middle of both bands and has never exceeded 1.3 on VHF and VHF. Allows me to easily get my BTech 6x2 to the nearest DMR repeater which is 24 miles away.

Pros
  • CB and Radio Equipment
Cons
  • There are Cons

Aluminum boom and elements should be strong but light. Each element is fixed by you with a small conical screw. This seemed to keep the elements in my build fairly tight, but I'm concerned that the wind and weather will loosen them over time. After assembly, the SWR for 2m and 70cm was far from the same. I spent over 45 minutes working on the setup and was only able to tune both bands by adding short extensions to the 70cm fixed drive units as shown in my drawings.

Pros
  • Antennas
Cons
  • Crumpled

May need some light fixing

swr for 70cm is good and adjustment is tight. However, after loosening the adjusting screws, the 2 m adjustment loosens noticeably. The problem is the lever coming out of the match block. I carefully drilled out the head of the rivet, then used one of the four remaining screws to tighten the rivet by inserting it into the center of the rivet. This tightened the stock, but the SWR adjustment is an adjustment of the minimum SWR at the low end of the range rather than an adjustment of the used…

Can be revised

SWR at 70 cm is good, close adjustment. However, after loosening the adjusting screws, the 2 m adjustment loosens noticeably. The problem is the lever that comes out of the match block. I carefully drilled out the head of the rivet, then used one of the four remaining screws to tighten the rivet by inserting it into the center of the rivet. This tightened the stem, but the SWR adjustment is an adjustment of the minimum SWR at the low end of the range rather than an adjustment of the used part…
