I had a Panasonic trimmer about 15 years ago and just bought it because I thought it could do it. I don't do anything but trim her nose hair. It takes forever to cut hair and it's not that good. The first rotary trimmer I have used and loved. It really works! This one is a guard. I just hope it lasts. Updated December 2018. You get about 14 months of infrequent use before it dies. I use it every few weeks or a month. As long as it works it's great, but this is the second one I've had and they seem to die after 12-14 months. At best I get 28 +/- uses of this, and I think that's more than about 15-20 uses. At $10 it's not terrible value but there's no reason they can't keep it longer. I'll try the manual route as the motor seems to be failing.

If there was quality control on this product it would turn out that the blade would get stuck in the point when trying to unwind. This is the most common complaint about this product when you look at all the reviews for this particular product. However, after prolonged use (once every 2 weeks, maybe for 2-3 months), I encountered many cases when the product did not turn on; The problem is not with the battery as I had the same problem whether it was a new battery or not.
