This is actually a replacement comb for the ER224, marked ER224 RC on my friend's model (and as others have pointed out, same as ER224S) and appears to be the exact same same part like original. The second picture is wrong, the first picture is correct (at the time of writing). Everyone has already noticed how fragile the lure is, and I'd bet any broken lure broke in the same place - in the lower left and/or lower right corner of the back of the comb (the side with the smiley face). below inโ€ฆ

Keeps Trimmer running

I'm weird about some things. I need my electronics to keep working, but I can't recycle every plastic item I touch. (Special hell for me, hooray!) This is the second guard I've bought for these trimmers. I ended up dropping it and roughly peeling off the protector once to clean it. So I'm a lump that doesn't always charge. This battery lasts pretty strong. So words and such! Don't get me started on carbon credits. Just keep your trimmers running and turn them off when they die.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Disappear

Benefits: Ideal for a 5 star beard trimmer (no comb). Weaknesses: Extremely brittle (minus stars). This is my third comb in 2 years and I've always been more careful with my next one than before. Would go elsewhere but that's the only part that fits. I plan to reinforce them where they broke earlier with thick CA. However, since all of the plastic material is VERY weak, I suspect it will simply break near the areas I've reinforced. If that doesn't work, I'll drop Panasonic altogether and giveโ€ฆ

Expensive for what it is.

Exactly the same as the original. Mine broke when the trimmer fell off the shelf onto the floor. I see how the design has flaws in the areas of stress increase that allow it to break. This one doesn't fix them so I have to be careful as others have pointed out. The part is a bit expensive for just a plastic PC, hence no 5 stars.

Pros
  • Quality workmanship
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Very hard plastic that breaks easily

I've looked through a few of these already. It had barely been a week and I dropped it onto the counter from about chest height (1.5 feet) and it cracked. It always seems to tear on the side where it slides over the length adjustment tab so it just slips off and you can't use it anymore. The plastic is too hard and has low tensile strength.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Upgradable

Perfect fit but planning to buy another one next year.

This is the fourth comb I have bought in the last 6 years. It fits perfectly but is poorly constructed so the plastic fails after about a year of use. Why they can't make it out of stronger plastic is beyond me. When the razor finally dies I'll buy something else, but for now I have to buy this semi-disposable piece every year.

  • Few competitors

Saved me from buying a new trimmer!

UPDATE - Replacement lasted 2 years before breaking like the original. I think it's a good price, $10 including shipping for 2 more years of use. Now I'm buying another replacement, I hope it lasts another 2 years. Like others, I love this trimmer, but the adjustable blade guard broke after a year or two of use. I have tried others and then when I decided to buy a new identical trimmer from Amazon I stumbled upon this replacement. This is ideal and much cheaper than replacing the entireโ€ฆ

Update from 10/10/2021

Already bought 4 replacements that is 3 years old because it breaks easily because the plastic is very porous Made by a third-party manufacturer NOT Panasonic, why is that? It breaks too easily if it falls into a few pieces, maybe by design, so we keep buying replacement parts that cost 10 cents to make and $7 to buy. The last one, I filled it with liquid polymer glue, the seams became stronger; Let's see how it performs after regular daily use. UPDATE 10/10/2021: Thanks to a layer of liquidโ€ฆ

Fits well replaces old broken beard and mustache groomer

Edit: July 30th 2021 - Yes one by one the corners broke at the base of the 2nd attachment I bought. If a materials specialist could tell us what this Merdium plastic is, we could find cement to bond the pieces together. I've tried epoxy, plastic model glue and of course "crazy" glue. Until now, only chemically strengthened paper tape has worked. Essentially, fold the two fragments together, line them up with the crease, and apply the paper tape. Rub some moisture into the tape, then add a small

If you have a Panasonic ER224S trimmer, you need extra combs!

I like the Panasonic ER224S trimmer. I have used a rechargeable beard trimmer for many years. The only problem is that the comb/blade guard is WEAK! If you ever drop this trimmer, the comb will snap in no time. I've re-taped and taped these combs (literally!), but bottom line, they're flimsy as hell. Purchase additional combs while they are available. If you don't, you'll throw away a great beard trimmer the first time you drop it.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Without insurance
