I recommend lining the foam with a marker (many YouTube videos show the best way to do this) and then CAREFULLY cutting it with a long knife - I used a 12" serrated bread knife. I had to put the foam back in the holes to raise the room so I wasn't blocking the up and down movement so I cut the newly removed foam in half with a knife and that was a hassle with all the little pieces, they wanted off - take your time and be careful.
