Lots of fun Pleated filter Charcoal/Black

This filter is really fun. It's just a pleated filter that appears black. Within a month material was separating from the filter and clogging my second filter. Take some time and go to the Pentek website, read the detailed description of each model and save your money.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • I'll write later

Good price and quick delivery

It's usually $50 at a hardware store so anything cheaper is a bonus. Although this replacement had two small spacers in the middle that the original didn't have, it fit and worked well. However, it was bagged and sealed with clear tape and wrinkled in transit. I assume it will still work fine.

Pros
  • Excellent workmanship
Cons
  • Nothing here

GOOD FILTER REPLACEMENT

I bought this unit and the larger filter as a replacement pair for my rainwater filtration system. Easy to install and keep working. The trick to getting the most out of these items is to consistently change your filters every 3-4 months. At the same time, the water remains exceptionally clear and the water pressure never drops. I like the quality of this charcoal filter in that I don't see any charcoal residue in the filter canister, only the contaminants it is designed to filter out.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • No paint needed

I am very satisfied so far and have not noticed a drop of water.

Replaced our Brita fridge. It is part of a larger pre- and post-filter system that includes a UV filter and a pH neutralizer. Very happy so far and haven't noticed any drop in water pressure. We use well water so keep that in mind. In my honest opinion, you probably shouldn't be using it as a sump and carbon filter at the same time. This filter will work for a long time if you install pre-filter first. In front of it are two filters. First, it's a washable 30 micron sediment filter. The second…

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • I don't remember but something happened

Iron Bacteria is good for under sink water filters

We have Iron Bacteria in our well. Every summer we bombard it with acid to suppress bacterial growth. We also added #20 and #10 filters to prevent winter growth. We used to use a standard 5 micron particulate filter, changed it every month, and had to run the water through a razor to keep the water "normal". We haven't shaved since we switched to Pentec and it's been over a month since we changed the filters. The water is amazing and we didn't spend thousands on a chlorine drip system.

Pros
  • PROVIDE EXCELLENT sediment filtration and reduction of chlorine taste and odor
Cons
  • Expensive

Bad filter cartridge

I bought 2 of these Pentek filters because in the past activated carbon filters have improved the taste of drinking water. Sometimes I left her for 6 months or more. This time, however, both filters began to let the carbon into the water, which I only noticed after 4 weeks! The water in our white cups in the bathroom suddenly turned grey! When I took the cartridge out of the filter canister I saw the mess. See attached photo. The carbon has leached out of the filter into the water. I've been…

Pros
  • SUITABLE FOR HOUSE AND NON-CHLORINATED WATER, unlike cellulose cartridges
Cons
  • Not sure
