Description of Delco 4 Cylinder Ignition PerTronix 1143 Ignitor

Delivers twice the voltage to the spark plugs, increasing horsepower, fuel economy, and spark plug life. 2:1 improvement over points in current fall time for increased coil output. Rotating cobalt magnets trigger a Hall Effect integrated circuit no points to burn, no moving parts to wear out. Epoxy molding makes our module impervious to dirt, oil, grease and moisture. Stable timing no need for any adjustments.

Good product. Suitable for igniter

Ideal for replacing point problems. I've only had them on two different small 4 cylinder applications and I was surprised that the job was easy. Just two wires and everything works. The only thing I would change is that if you leave the key on when it doesn't work, they can burn out.

Highly recommended. Installed on my dad's '53 Ferguson TO30.

Highly recommended. Installed on my father's '53 Ferguson TO30 tractor with a Continental 4 cylinder engine and an original Delco distributor. The tractor is now so stable, starts and idles. No more points! The manual recommends a 3 ohm coil. Don't worry about a 3 ohm Pertronix coil, you can use a 12 volt ignition coil from any old air-cooled VW. I went to the parts store and bought it for a '69 VW. This is the only 12 volt 3 ohm coil and it works great.

Ferguson TO30 Conversion

I converted my Ferguson TO30 tractor to a full 12 volt system. The Pertronix module was the final step in the point and capacitor upgrade. One of the most important points when converting 4 cylinder engines is to use a 3.5 ohm ignition coil. Many coils have a resistance of 1.5 ohms or less, and a 3.5 ohm coil was, for me at least, crucial for the conversion. It's been a few weeks now and I couldn't be happier. The tractor starts much better and easier than with the old points and condenser…
