Peterson 490 Strobe Tuner

I bought this tuner to tune the mandolins I build, so I only use a fraction of its features and functions. However, it is easy to use and understand and I am very happy with it. I used to use Peterson's StroboSoft 2.0 setup software, but I got tired of bringing my computer to the store every time I wanted to test something. The 490 starts up in seconds and works flawlessly in combination with the Behringer CS400 compressor and microphone.

Top Quality When You Can Afford It

Use a Peterson strobe tuner at my repair shop to upgrade Buzz Feiten guitars. Need such precision for acoustic and classical guitars. It's incredibly accurate and easy to use. It also looks spectacular in store for customers. Nobody ever argues about the intonation settings when I run this and plug in their guitar. Otherwise it's really overkill for other applications and quite expensive. I do not recommend it to anyone except a professional workshop. For high fidelity at the best price I would

Very accurate Peterson mechanics.

As a maker of musical instruments, I have several tuners that have served me well over the years, but I was looking for a device that could identify certain notes more clearly, which other tuners don't like . I also wanted a tuner that would measure the harmonic positions in a complex sound. It's difficult sometimes, but I think the Auto Strobe 490 can do it. My first tuner was a Yamaha PT4 which was around $1000 in 1976. It was very good, but the Peterson Auto Strobe is a big improvement. this
