I have two labs and no fence. I like this fencing system. I like that I can take it with me and use it during my visit. Checkboxing was a problem. Hence a star deduction. Now dogs don't need flags. We took them off after about a month. One charge lasts me about a week. No complaints.

This item does not work as advertised. Very disappointed. We also plugged it in and followed the instructions, but our dog could get electrocuted within 15 feet of the base unit. When he scored, he wasn't strong at all. We set the settings to the highest. I only give one star because it was necessary. Nobody deserves it for the price.

Follow the training instructions - and give your dog a little mercy in the beginning - but he'll settle in very quickly and won't even go into shock - ours will hear the beep and turn around immediately. This fence works great with our two dogs. Both train very quickly and stay away from limits. (We have it on setting 3.) We're not on flat terrain, but it seems to be handling it pretty well, perhaps getting more distance on descents and not as far on a climb. We also have a lot of trees and we don't think they are a problem. This fence works better than I expected. I live on 2.5 hectares. About 1.5 of them are covered with forest. I bought an additional transmitter. Place one in front of the house and one in the back to create a big eight for the dogs. I assumed forests wouldn't work that well, but it does! I didn't expect it to work but I was pleasantly surprised. Our yard isn't that big, but after moving the base around the house we were able to find a spot that gives the dogs 45 feet straight onto the road and straight to the bushes in the backyard. Hearing beeps when checking boxes isn't an exact science, but getting most of the dots right and then adding lots of checkboxes in between to create a clear boundary worked well. UPDATE! Don't buy this! It started shocking my dog randomly. I was shocked to pick up the collar less than 15 feet from the base unit. Revain, please stop selling this product! This product will not work if you have a steep slope. The collar unit is easy to charge, but it is difficult to install the waterproof connector.
