Freshly unpacked, looks and smells like old toothpaste residue. It just arrived today and I took it out at night to brush my teeth before bed and found this. I am very disappointed as I was looking forward to using it. The device was fully boxed and sealed. Whoever brought it back did a fantastic job and works for a packaging company. I've had it for 1 year. I liked the app while it worked. But after a year you have to uninstall the app, reinstall it and sign in again to keep the app open. The app crashes after one use. I bought this for the app and found it useful for the first year. I would advise against buying this if you're hoping to use it alongside the app. A cheaper version would be just as useful and less expensive.

Unfortunately I bought both HX9954/56 and Philips Sonic Care Essence. The brushes are like hard wire brushes. All three. Sonic Care Essence is way better. Philips asked if they could track my brushing, and as I read further, Philips said that tracking my brushing also means tracking my social media and email.
