Cheap wire. I would connect this to my iPad, put the iPad on the floor and the speaker under my pillow. I bought two of these and they both disconnect at the outlet: the wires are bare.

There was a similar one a year ago, but it finally stopped working. I've looked through a few others over the years, but this one is by far my favorite. Great sound, not bulky and uncomfortable to wear under the pillow.

This underpad speaker worked great with a CD player and recorded books. It's nice to hear how I fall asleep and who can sleep with headphones. I had throat surgery and it saved my life. Unfortunately, that doesn't work with my current phone.

First time using a pillow speaker when I had to turn down the volume on my old iPod. It's loud enough even under a thick pillow. Yes, it's a bit bulkier than the others, but you won't need it directly under your ear. It also seems to be better with a stronger cable. Let's hope the cord doesn't break in the outlet like all the others I've bought recently. I liked it so much that I ordered another one. Not yet, but if you find something that works well.

Have been using this type of speaker for about 40 years or more. They typically last around 5 years or more if you never pull the speaker wire connected to the radio. The tone is controlled using the controls on your radio. The sound quality is sharp. No static electricity unless the radio itself has static electricity. Almost flat so you never feel it under your pillow. Oh yes, it's a personal speaker, so you're the only one who can hear it. It will not disturb the person sleeping next to you.
