Received a leather chisel today; out of pocket they are boring as hell. So much so that there is a flat end at the beveled tip of each prong! Also, the four-tooth chisel had chipped corners on the first and last teeth, making it virtually useless. Too cheap to send back, I'll try to see if I can sharpen it on a grinding wheel but I don't have high hopes. Just be warned.

I like sharpening, so that's enough. If you want something fancy from the start, buy another product :). I honestly think it's seconds. They work well with a little elbow grease.

Many of the tine tips were bent back and the rest were very blunt. Thin soft skin will not happen. After filing them I was finally able to break through the skin, but it still took a few hard hits with a hammer.

The six-pointed spike isn't sharp enough to pierce leather easily, and I need to sharpen it. All others are sharp enough to use straight out of the box. I suppose decent enough for beginners without breaking the bank.

These tools are decent for the price, but not for leather work. The teeth are forged (not machined or ground) leaving a few burrs and rough edges. That's fine if you like sharpening and polishing your tools, but you might not be impressed without some sort of finishing. I *really* love sharpening/polishing tools so these chisels are much better after working on the finish for a while and I like the way they work. I will say they are strong; strong thighs, and I have seen no bent fingers.
