Description of πŸ”Œ Raspberry Pi GPIO Pinout Breakout Board - RJ45 Compatible with 1A+, 1B+, 2B, 3B, 3B+, 3A+, 4B, and Zero-W

8 port(2x4) RJ45 8P8C sockets, with the module you can easily connect Raspberry Pi GPIOs and Power supply to peripheral devices through the RJ45 connector. The module support all 40pin Raspberry Pi A+ 3A+ B+ 2B 3B 3B+ 4B Zero, Zero-W. Each RJ45 port is connected Power Supply and GND. Each RJ45 can independently choose from the Raspberry Pi 5V / 3.3V, or from blue terminal block, to supply power to external devices. The 4 5 pin of all RJ45 ports are connected to the power supply(VCC, V+), and 7 8 pin connected to GND(0V). RJ45 GPIO connects: Port 1: UART(RXD TXD) GPIO17 GPIO4. Port 2: SPI(SCLK CE0 MISO MOSI). Port 3: GPIO6 GPIO12 GPIO5 CE1. Port 4: GPIO21 GPIO26 GPIO20 GPIO19. Port 5: I2C(SDA, SCL) GPIO18 GPIO27. Port 6: I2C(SDA, SCL) GPIO23 GPIO22. Port 7: I2C(SDA, SCL) GPIO24 GPIO25. Port 8: I2C(SDA, SCL) GPIO13 GPIO16. 2x20pin expansion pin header, pin height 10mm/0.39". Packing list: 1x RJ45 breakout board, 4x brass standoffs, 8x M2.5x6 screws, 8x pin jumpers. (the item not include Raspberry Pi, RJ45 cable and plug)

Connect common interface for

The board was purchased to facilitate prototyping and development. I found it good that the sensors can be easily replaced. I liked that the RJ45 connectors provide a common interface for the sensors.

Pros
  • RJ45 GPIO devices: Port 1: UART (RXD TXD) GPIO17 GPIO4. Port 2: SPI (SCLK CE0 MISO MOSI). Connector 3: GPIO6 GPIO12 GPIO5 CE1. Connector 4: GPIO21 GPIO26 GPIO20 GPIO19. Port 5: I2C (SDA, SCL) GPIO18 GPIO27. Port 6: I2C (SDA, SCL) GPIO23 GPIO22. Port 7: I2C (SDA, SCL) GPIO24 GPIO25. Port 8: I2C (SDA, SCL) GPIO13 GPIO16.
Cons
  • Only available in black

Big Breakthrough for Computer Components

I thought I could use both as a terminal server, but I can't use it for that (that's a limitation of the Pi, not this product). However, it's a great way to connect other devices to it and I haven't had any issues with it. The use of RJ45 connectors and solid core cables greatly simplifies the breakout.

Pros
  • Each RJ45 port is connected to power and ground. Each RJ45 can independently choose between Raspberry Pi 5V/3.3V or the blue terminal strip to power external devices. Pin 4 5 of all RJ45 ports is connected to power supply (VCC, V+) and pin 7 8 is connected to GND (0V).
Cons
  • No form required

Great Breakout

I thought I could use either one as a terminal server, but can't use it for that (which is a Pi limitation, but not this one product) . However, it's a great way to connect other devices to it and I've had no problems with it. The use of RJ45 connectors and single-core cables greatly simplifies the connection.

Pros
  • 2 x 20-pin expansion connector, pin height 10mm/0.39in
Cons
  • Doubtful
