Description of πŸ”Œ Platinum Tools 100020 EZ-RJ45 Shielded Cat5e/6 (Internal Ground), Green - 50/Bag

EZ-RJ45 design allows the wires to pass through the connector so the twists in each pair can be pulled closer to the contacts than conventional plugs. Maintaining the twists to the point of termination significantly decreases crosstalk and markedly increases performance. Fully shielded products provide reduced pair-to-pair crosstalk, alien crosstalk and considerably improved immunity to noise at all frequencies. Substantially improve noise immunity at all frequencies, especially above 30 MHz when cable balance starts to significantly degrade. Category 6 performance per EIA/TIA B.2. FCC compliant, UL rated. RoHS compliant.

Doesn't work with good category 6 cable

Doesn't work with good category 6 cable, struggled with these connectors for hours as I was 300 miles from civilization, don't waste your money

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • Useless features

Never buy this item

Holes are so tiny and pairs are difficult to adjust. I lost 75% of the package and lost a lot of time with my work. I do not recommend this.

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • There are cons

Your time is worth these plugs

I love these things. Gone are the days of tucking individual wires or wires into the 'holder' in the connector housing (and wondering if they were all full depth or crossed). You run the wires *through* the face of the connector so you know they're all the way down and in the right order. When you crimp a connector with a Platinum Tools crimping tool, the wires are cut flush with the face of the connector.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Can hurt

Category 6 cable may not fit

I have been using this type of connector for many years but I have Category 6 cable that is 23 gauge instead of 24 gauge and the overall thickness is 1.05mm. The connector specs on their website state a maximum thickness of 1.016mm.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

WILL NOT WORK with FTP 23AWG (at least not the Cable Matters brand)

These connectors will NOT work with Cable Matters Cat6A (S/FTP) 23AWG shielded cables. Period. Now I can't be 100% sure that these are actually Platinum Tools connectors because a closer look at the product description led me to the text "This item is not sold directly by Platinum Tools." Although apparently it is is supplied and sold by Revain, I believe it could still be a counterfeit product. But me and a 30 year old electrical engineer made sure that due to the size of the cable not even…

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • Something else

Nice design but very expensive for cheap jacks

I have enough experience installing regular RJ-45 plugs (dead ends you can't push wires through) and I can do it fairly reliably with standard -EIA make Wiring /TIA 568. I've had less success having to make custom cables to connect the RS-232 console ports to the terminal servers, as wiring was required on one end, with striped wires on pins 1- 4 and colored wires on pins 5-. 8 made conventional connectors difficult to properly mate due to the less natural action required to separate wire pairs

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
