My 9 year old granddaughter is a little taller than average. She wanted them because her mother has the same pair. I was worried they would look too old, but relented and bought them for them. They are so cute and don't hug her at all. We pair her with a long denim shirt to look age appropriate and to cover her butt. she loves them We haven't washed them yet. The instructions say to hand wash, so we'll see.
