This air conditioner is not quiet at all. It's pretty loud even on the lowest setting. It doesn't look like air conditioning until you turn it down to a very low temperature of 65 degrees. Anything above that seems to be at the fan level. I even raise my hand to the device, and the air isn't as cool as it was at 65 degrees. I know how to control the device, so yes, I set it to cooling, not auto or fan. I spoke to Revain and it would be very difficult to return this device so I'll stick with it.

This air conditioner cools my office well. The only thing that bothers me is that by default it mounts completely flat and I understand that it needs to be tilted a bit to properly drain the water. As you adjust the level, the water collects and you can hear it sloshing every time the fan is turned on. Not bad at all! I'm actually using it right now. Basically, I bought it because it's remote controlled. It wasn't easy to access the controls on my previous ACA. Whatever it is, good or bad GOOD: 1) Has a remote control (can access many functions) 2) Easy to install 3) You can adjust the louver faceplate to direct the air where you want. THE BAD 1) The remote is very hard to understand (for me). Too many settings2) Noise. My last air conditioner was much quieter. This took some getting used to.
