The perfect addition to my studio lighting!

This is great value for money - the size is big enough to illuminate the whole body during portrait photography - and it goes well with my continuous lighting as well as my flash! It was easy to put together, easy to take apart - helps distribute the softness evenly, just like it should. I will buy another!

Bigger than I thought but great

I have only installed this softbox once so far just to test it. It's huge! I knew it would be big but it's bigger than I expected. I think this will work great though. It seems well made and easy to customize. There is a zip slot where you can put it on the stand. It has a stem, like any umbrella, and it fits snugly into the hole on my lantern bracket. The white diffuser was in perfect shape when it arrived unlike some others. I think I will get a lot of benefit from this article. I also plan…

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

The poor quality of the metal bar was terrible.

It has a chunky design and a poor quality metal pole. The pole flexed completely as it moved the light a few feet from the groom's left to the right. He still managed to work long enough to try and get a vaccine, but when I tried to shoot him down after the wedding, the staff bowed so much I couldn't take him out without a meaningful fight could pull. When we lowered it, the whole rod was bent in several places and thus warped, we could no longer close the Octabox.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Good diffuser but not durable at all

I would recommend looking elsewhere if you need durability. The softbox works as expected, delivering quality diffusion and a huge light source. The light covers your subject well. BUT - the thing is cheap and generally does not suit me. I kept it outside in light winds with lots of weight on a light stand to keep it from falling. But when I went to take it off and pack it, I noticed that the umbrella stem was bent! I think if you use it exclusively in the studio it will work great. Just try…

Great budget mod.

I'm using this with the AD200 and the X-Pro transmitter on my A7iii and I love the results. As a large softbox, it catches the wind like crazy. I have heavy, light tripods that I've been using on location for over 20 years and this thing clearly wants to tip over. Sandbags or weights are a must. Mine has withstood a couple of falls and one of the last ones bent the extension so it's only a matter of time before it breaks. (My fault I didn't secure my stand) It's a bit awkward to set up and was…

Broke after one use

I took a chance because it was recommended by a friend and wasn't very expensive. I bought it for weddings and was hoping it would be portable and easy to set up. It was, but the chunky construction and poor quality of the metal rod were terrible. The pole was fully flexed as the light stand was moved a few feet from the bride's left side to the right side. It worked long enough to fire, but when I tried to take it off after the wedding, the rod bent so badly that I couldn't get it out of the…

That's a sweet person! for lighting and studio

really enjoyed using it, has great light control and is very easy to set up. In the future I will buy more for my photo and video shoots. Because this softbox is so affordable, the materials aren't as good as I've seen in high-end softboxes. That aside, considering its cheapness, this is very well built. I think it will last me maybe a few years before I have to replace it. But it's so cheap that I don't have to worry about the cost of replacing it. The metal part of the umbrella inside seems…

Niver survived the fall, Godox collapsed.

*** The first two pictures are from Godox. You can see a much better seam reinforced with a zipper. The third picture is the Godox lace above and Neewer below. I'm not sure about the difference. Maybe it's just to accommodate the thicker fabric material. Which might have required a thicker metal material. The fourth picture is a cheaper Neewer zipper. Mine broke on the second day trying to hit my AD600. The 5th is in Neewer. So I figured that and Neewer would be the same, or maybe Godox better,

Pros
  • Everything is fine!

Neat Umbrella Mount Modifier

This is a deep silver reflex umbrella, usually with Velcro-fastened outer diffuser. It works with any flash on an umbrella swivel, but accessing the flash with the diffuser attached is tricky at best. You should use a slave radio with it, ideally one that allows remote control of the power settings. It goes perfectly with the Godox/Flashpoint AD360 (bare bulb, built in radio) and I tried it briefly to say I tried the Nikon SB800 - both worked well, the latter not overpowering of course…
