I used this guy to drill three 1/2" wide, 2" deep holes in my house foundation for attaching eyebolts. The first two holes I drilled took 20 minutes each. Like most Porter-Cable offerings, this is a quality tool! I recently drilled eight holes about 3 inches deep in very hard concrete and the hammer drill worked very well. the reason for only four stars is the rather useless side handle and the depth gauge attachment. You just can't tighten it enough to keep it from slipping off the collar and becoming a spinning menace on contact with a cartridge or bat. It once started smoking after only 10 seconds of use while kneading some type of mortar. Smoke literally poured out of the hull. I thought it would catch fire. I used one of the PC cordless drills instead and it worked fine. Now it also does things that sometimes don't even work when I use it. I have to tap it lightly on the floor to make it work.
