This radio is a waste of money. The sound quality is low, even on full volume. The design is outdated and the buttons are hard to navigate. The only positive is that it's small and portable, but that doesn't make up for its lack of functionality. Don't bother with this piece of electronics.

I wanted an inexpensive, lightweight radio for AM/FM calls. This radio is great! As a bonus, it *looks* included with AFC (Auto Frequency Control/Auto Fine Tuning). I didn't find this in the documentation, but the behavior is similar to AFC. Tune into a station using the analogue dial and if it's free it appears to stay that way (locked) until you tune into another station. Surprisingly good AM and FM clarity. Well it's not Sony in terms of sound quality OR external speaker reception, but costs less and has some positive qualities. Lighter than the Sony and the silver color makes it easier to find in my visually impaired friend's backpack. The black model has a contrasting white print for the controls, which is noticeably easier to see than the Sony black and white print.
